After sixty long years Thomas Travel is still in business and going strong. To celebrate we wanted to give you a brief history of the changes that have taken place in our little corner of the world.
Jack Thomas, a travel loving retired railroad man, established Thomas Travel in 1951. At a time when commercial airplanes was still in its infancy and ocean liners were the primary method of travel. After eighteen years of building his business he sold Thomas Travel to John M. Dubois in 1969. Mr. Dubois was an industrious Dutch immigrant who had just completed his US Military duty in the Korean War. Under his ownership, the agency grew to a staff of 12 agents who specialized in organizing and escorting group tours around the world. As the travel industry advanced and changed so did Thomas Travel's tactics and in 2003, after 34 years, Mr. Dubois retired and sold the business to Bob Guymon, Jenny Dubois, and Monica Marshall who continued to specialize in organizing and escorting group tours around the world as well as group travel packages, family packages, cruises, Disneyland packages, Mexico and Hawaii packages, honeymoons and river cruises.
Despite the departure of Jenny Dubois in 2008, to have her first child, Bob Guymon and Monica Marshall continue to operate Thomas Travel, the oldest continuous travel company in Utah, as a successful business. And so, for all those who have enjoyed our service for these many years and those who are just discovering us for the first time, know that you can continue to count on Thomas Travel for your travel needs as we continue to change with the times to ensure you the best possible service.
